4 things that makes me anxious, but shouldn’t. College version

hello guys! I’m sorry for being away for so long. I got caught up on being in my new school and could not find anything interesting to post about.

Anyway, I decided to make my college version on things that makes me anxious, but shouldn’t

1- Deciding what shoe to use

My new school has 50 THOUSAND people, meaning that the campus is GIGANT! It is really a city, particularly because it has everything a city has, even a GameStop, go figure. It is like giving birth to find the right building and then the right class, I have to call my boyfriend (that’s been in the school for two years) to help me find the right place.

It is so nerve wrecking to decide which shoe I will choose and take the risk to ruin my nails and develop bubbles followed by 5 hours of walking non stop. I haven’t use a sneaker since 2008 and I really don’t want to go back to that life.  I’m not a sneaker lady just because it reminds me too much of high school (where we couldn’t wear anything else but) and I developed a sneaker phobia.

My flat shoes are starting to wear out and give me a hard time walking so much, so that is not very comfortable. Sandals? I’m not american, heels? ha ha ha I try not to go out to clubs just so I can practice my privilege of not wearing heels.

You see my panic? I think after 21 years of never trying a roller-blade, that is going to be my choice.

2- Asking for a pen/pencil

I’m still old school when it comes to education. I still use paper and pen/pencil to take all my notes. Sometimes I forget the stupid pen/pencil and see myself on the nerve wrecking situation of asking to borrow it. I’m a pretty outgoing person (I’m sorry for using this adjective, that’s what came up to my mind right now) and I know how to approach people, but not when I’m in class.

I never know if they speak english, if they do, I won’t understand their damn accent. What if the person don’t have a pen and I have to ask someone else and that person start a polite conversation and I have to nod and smile when all I want to do is sit back and take my notes? Sometimes they won’t hear me and I will have to repeat 3 times that “i just need a pen” and after almost yelling they say “sorry, I don’t have any”.

After good luck and stress I’m always left with a pen from someone who decided to leave earlier than me. What am I suppose to do with that pen? Is it rude to keep or will I look like a loser if I give back the next day? Shit.

3- Sorority Girls

I’m not intimidated by them, I just don’t like the way the woman’s race is being portrait by this plastic girls. I bet the girl who fought for equal rights and burn her bras in public places are very upset, wherever she is.

4- The way everybody look the same

“Are you in my Latin America History class?” “No, I’ve never seen you in my life” “Are you sure? Because I’m pretty sure the guy next to me had that same navy blue shirt and jeans”

Why everybody is so much alike? Because my other school was an art school people took time to dress up with their tie dyed shirts, self designed dress and shirts with their graphic design on it. Now they all wear the same navy blue shirt, jeans and the girls looks like they just woke up AND are in the worse hang over. They are not, as I found out, they are just too plain to add some personality to their clothing. That makes me anxious because they all seem the same and I can never tell who is who.

PS: I did not read over this post so if it doesn’t make sense to you, I’m sorry the waste of time.

L.
